Submission Preparation Checklist

All contributors must submit their manuscripts via the online submission platform after registering. As part of the submission process, authors are required to comply with the guidelines listed below. Submissions that do not adhere to these guidelines may be returned. Please include your full details, contact and mail addresses as well as affiliations (if any).

Avar accepts submissions in English, French, German, Italian, and Spanish. Submissions may take the form of short notes (2,000-4,000 words) and articles (6,000-12,000 words). Word counts include notes and references.

Submissions must:

  • be an original piece of work, having not been published before nor currently considered for publication elsewhere, either in printed or electronic form.
  • be in OpenOffice, Microsoft Word, or RTF document file format.
  • be anonymized.
  • include an abstract (150-200 words) with keywords.
  • include the names and contact information for 3 potential referees qualified to review this paper. (Please enter this information in the Comments for the Editor field when submitting your paper)
  • adhere to the most recent Chicago Manual of Style using footnotes and no bibliography. For examples, see The Chicago Manual of Style Online.
  • have information regarding permissions for the reprint of any published material or images included in within the paper.

Acknowledgements should be given either in a footnote on the first page or at the end of the manuscript, before the list of references.

Tables and figures should be integrated in the text and the copy editors may alter the layout whenever necessary. The title page must include an abstract of about 150 words and 5 keywords. Full contact information with institutional affiliations and any acknowledgements must also be provided in the online submission but not in the submitted manuscript.

Manuscripts accepted for publication or published by the Journal cannot be distributed, reproduced or reprinted without prior permission of the Publisher.

Authors are personally responsible for obtaining permission for the reprint of any previously published material, including images. Any submission which does not conform to the above instructions may be returned for the necessary revision before consideration for publication.

Any opinions expressed in the Journal are those of authors and do not necessarily those of the editors or publisher.

Please see the appropriate pages for copyright and privacy policies.
